Its done! I think its done! I think its my first book!!!!

Yay!  And the home team knocks the ball out of the park.  I got on a tear tonight, after a day filled with lack luster performance and I think its safe to say that it is here.  Admiral Who is now Book one a series Chronicling the Continuing Adventures of MPF-1 and its Flagship, The Lucky Clover.

Oh I am just about beside myself right now.  Its too bad I have no load for my phone right now or I'd share the news far and wide.  Hear ye!  Hear ye!  Spread the news far and wide Darkness goes where Dorthan rides.

Herm-herm wrong story and it isn't even mine.

Okay enough silliness aside.  The official word count of the rough draft is (clue in the drum roll) 133,399.  that is 133K of words for this first and very unpolished work of mine.

I don't yet have the whole plot down yet but the next book in the series is tentatively called, Admiral's Gambit.  And fear not, if you liked the first book you will get to stay with all of our favorite characters.  Just make sure to let me know which are the fav's and which ones need work or removal.

(dancing in the street)

This is a milestone people.  No matter how awful people say this book is or how badly its thrashed by my critics, I will always be able to say I have written a book and can now call myself an Author.

I'll keep you updated on my next writing project and how the revision of the rough draft for Admiral Who works itself out.  My brother's got the first half of the draft and was supposed to go through it two weeks ago.  Alas he's been busy with other things and hasn't been able to get around to it.   But rest assured I will post a snippet here once we get to the second draft stage.  I'll also post the whole book on the Baen critique site and add a link here for any of you.  My currently non-existent followers who might be interested.

When I get ready for amazon publishing I'll let (the non-existant) you know.  And give you the blow by blow.

He shoots he scores! What a shot! 125K and counting

Well guys I'm up to 126,566 on the official word count.  I'm still going strong on my 5k a day.  Those Grimlins are headed for the hills!

In our latest exciting installment, our young Admiral has taken a hard line with the Imperial and used it as part of a distraction involving the derelict pirate heavy cruiser to get his Lancers in close to the Promethean Hammerhead Cruisers.

There's a lot more still to come in the next exciting addition to the chronicles of the MPF Lucky Clover

Up to 120K!!! How about them apples.

Up to 120K!!! and the official count as of right this minute is 120,262.  The Admiral and Crew of MPF Lucky Clover have arrived in Easy Haven and who should they spy right off but those dastardly Promethean Cruisers under Captain Stood.  The very same rascals that were supposed to Jump with them to face the pirates but instead left them in the lurch and hared off with a prize ship rightfully belonging to either the Multi-Sector Patrol Fleet as a whole or specifically to the MPF Lucky Clover who captured her prior to the start of our story.

Needless to say our boys aren't too happy to find this pair of renegades lurking around the system and set out to make things right.  Unfortunately they have yet to learn the true state of things inside this system.

You'll know more after I write it and more of the amazing adventures and tales of the MFP Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruiser, Lucky Clover.

Go Team!! 118K and Counting

Hi there guys, this is The Deposed King once again here to share with you the results of today's writing.

I'm up to 118,490 on the word count!  Go team!!!

I'm not sure if I've found the end of my novel of not.  I'm thinking to end the book when Admiral Who! finishes up at Tracto VI and is ready to head back to the Confederacy in the Spine.  Originally I was planning for one more major plot to unfold.  When the young Admiral reaches Easy Haven, one of the few remaining old style confederation bases in the Sector.

A simple ship delivery and touching bases with the rest of the Confederacy, turns into a series of epic confrontations.  First with the Faithless Promethean Cruisers who either mutinied or committed piracy depending on how you look at it and then with the last Imperial Medium Cruiser in the Spine.  The corvette squadron based in Easy Haven will be forced to stand on the sidelines and watch helplessly as the heavy titans duke it out.  Or will they?

I was planning on a photo finish and it may still turn out that way.  I'm just trying to decide whether the ending of Tracto makes a nice ending for the story at about 115k words or if I need to go all the way for the jugular and finish up with the end of the Easy Haven conflict.

Either way this story won't write itself.  So after this 1st draft of Admiral Who is written.  Look and ask for snippets of it and if you like it as much as I do.  Say so and get ready for Book 2: Admiral's Gambit

The next in the series.  I haven't really decided on the series name.  Should it be:

The Admiral Who Series

An Admiral In Spite of Himself

A Series in the Spine Ward Core

A Sectors of the Spine Ward Core - Novel.

Etc.

Let me know votes and such.  Both before and after you read the book!

Thanks,

Getting to know me and my book Admiral Who

Hello this is The Deposed King of Baen's Bar.  I am starting my very own Blog!  Yeah me!

Okay to start off with I am a Nurse, former Internet Cafe Owner and current Aspiring Author of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Right now I am working on what will soon be my very first completed novel.  Tentatively titled, Admiral Who.

For those of you who don't know.  Most Full length novels start at 100k or in other words 100,000 words in length and go up much higher, although industry standard is 120K which is what I'm shooting for with thei novel.  You can easily tell how many words you are into your story by cutting and pasting your manuscript and putting it into a microsoft word or microsoft word works, word processor.  Click on the tools section right up at the top on the same line as with File and Edit and View, beside those will be the Tools section.  Click tools a drop down box will occur and then click on 'word count'.  Its that easy and then like me you'll know how far you are into the book.

I am currently 110,282 words into Admiral Who and hope to have it completed by the end of the month.  Which is January 2012.  My daily target this month has been 5000 words per day and so far I've been able to hold firm to that.  January 6th my life changed.  I was building a house and the funding ran out.  Since I had nothing better to do with my time, after the sudden loss of my housing project, I threw myself into my writing.  The first week was basically getting up to speed and after that it was off to the races.  I started January with 27.5k in words written and as I've said I'm up to 100k as or right now!  The only break I've taken has been the last three days when I went to get my CPR card updated.

So here's wishing me the best of luck for the future.  I promise to keep writing up until I either have to go back to work or start making some real money with my writing career.  If my writing career doesn't come through in time I am planning to head back to work and soldier on in my quest for a writing career.  I will write on my days off.

But for the rest of January and as much of february I can swing I plan to write 5k a day to keep the gremlins away.  I will let you know more as I go along further.

Thanks and God Bless,

The Deposed King
